BIOGRAPHY
Founded in 2024, Trio Resonantia is a piano trio based in Vienna, deeply rooted in the musical traditions of the city. Its international members - Italian violinist Riccardo Lui, Austrian cellist Irina Schukoff and Japanese pianist Kasumi Yui unite themselves in the goal to resonate with their audience through the powerful universal language of chamber music.
The Trio was most recently awarded the 2nd Prize at the X intl. Stasys Vainiunas Chamber Ensemble Competition, with special recognition for their unique sound, technique and deeply expressive tools.
Trio Resonantia is currently studying with Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. They are a guest ensemble at European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) and recently held their first residency at YCM Berlin.
The Trio also receives further guidance from Thomas Hoppe (ATOS Trio), Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Claus-Christian Schuster (Altenberg Trio), Karla Haltenwanger and Ilona Kindt (Trio Boulanger), Peter Schuhmayer (Artis Quartet), Minna Pensola (Meta4), Marianna Shirinyan and Patrick Jüdt.
They have appeared at venues such as the Haydnhaus as well as the Beethovenhaus (last residences of both composers), Bösendorfer Salon in Vienna, Festsaal Fürstenhaus in Weimar, Grand Duke’s Palace in Vilnius, Palazzo Ducale and Palazzo Te in Mantova, and at Musei Reali in Turin.
Furthermore, the Trio has been invited to Festivals such as the Cultural Summer, Trame Sonore and the ISA in Vienna.
Their performance has been broadcasted by the Austrian National Radio (“Apropos Klassik”) and ORF Lower Austria (“Licht ins Dunkel”).
Trio Resonantia's interpretations are characterised by liveliness and passion, both with standard chamber music repertoire as well as with new music. Their curiosity about historical performance practice, especially of the German Romantic repertoire, led to close collaboration with violinist and researcher Clive Brown. The Trio has recently worked with Austrian composer Johanna Doderer on her Piano Trio No. 3.
